RSS Supplies Holmatro High-Pressure Hydraulic Industrial Tools

Rope and Sling Specialists Ltd. (RSS) has been appointed the UK premier service centre and a distributor for Holmatro hydraulic equipment. RSS now stocks a full range of cylinders, pumps, hoses, and components — available for hire and sale.

RSS already offered a comprehensive portfolio of lifting and rigging products, in addition to live365 digitalisation and compliance technology. It supplies blocks, shackles, hooks, slings, harnesses, and other rigging gear — all covered by periodic Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) examinations — to some of the UK’s most notable joint ventures, consortiums, large-scale infrastructure projects, and blue-chip businesses.

Recently added to an ever-expanding catalogue, Holmatro high-pressure hydraulic lifting tools include cylinders that offer users flexibility and controlled power, from 5t to 300t. All products are designed to generate safe and controlled power in various industrial applications in sectors such as heavy lifting, transportation, shipbuilding, engineering, civil engineering, construction, mining, and energy.

Alana Filby, product support specialist at RSS, said: “The Holmatro range has enabled engineering companies to support maintenance tasks and manufacture a range of products, civil engineering contactors to build roads, bridges and even move buildings. The re-railing system a special product range lifts and also places trains back on track! It has reduced downtime for many industrial sectors and generally made working with high-pressure hydraulics safer. In all such applications — and more — Holmatro hydraulic equipment is already capturing the imagination of our existing and prospective customers.”

RSS’s Netherton depot in the UK’s Midlands has been set-up as a Holmatro hub, from where hire, sales, and service are coordinated nationally. RSS can dynamically test and certify all hydraulic cylinders, including those from other brands. In addition to RSS-held stock, Holmatro’s complete inventory of hydraulic equipment can be delivered directly to meet demand.

Tom Fictels, sales manager, hydraulic solutions at Holmatro, said: “We try to have at least one premium partner in each country, who is fully trained and equipped for repairs and all kinds of demos. RSS is that for us in the UK; it is a textbook example of cooperation and partnership. An advantage with a partner like RSS, is that they have agencies throughout the UK, and are well known to large civil engineering companies.

“In order to be able to market a brand like Holmatro, it helps to let users work with the equipment, and gain experience,” added Fictels, whose role includes responsibility for Holmatro partners in Western and Southern Europe. “The rental model thusly suits us very well, because the user can first hire all kinds of tools, before making a longer term investment.”

Fictels pointed to the hand pump range as a likely favourite among UK customers, citing fast use, due to oil flow; lightweight aluminium construction; and robust, simple design, as standout features. RSS is poised to onboard new products, as the Holmatro portfolio evolves. A new battery-powered pump unit — called APEIRON® — will be launched within the next few months.
